Wisdom or wealth (107)

Focus for the week
If given the choice of infinite wisdom or wealth, which would you choose? I feel as though everyone’s first instinct is to answer wealth. However, the obvious answer is wisdom.
What is wisdom? I believe wisdom, or being wise, means having sound judgment. Sound judgment requires the practical application of knowledge. Thus, being wise allows us to make better decisions. Most of us are wise in certain areas of our lives, whether it is professionally or in personal relationships or something else, and we probably have decent success in these areas for which we are strongly suited. However, if we had infinite wisdom, we would have impeccable judgment in every area of life. We would easily become wealthy, but perhaps more importantly, we would be able to recognize if being rich is truly important. Wealth alone does not make life worth living. Perhaps the energy would be better spent on something else.
If we had infinite wisdom, we would only act in ways that improve our lives. No time would be wasted on unimportant tasks, people, or situations. Life would be rich with meaning, and actions worth taking.
“It takes the whole of life to learn how to live, and -what will perhaps make you wonder more - it takes the whole of life to learn how to die.”
What I’m Reading
This week, I am reading Surely You’re Joking, Mr. Feynman by Richard P. Feynman. One of the greatest scientists of the past century, Richard Feynman was no stranger to having fun and often applied his brilliant mind to pulling brilliant pranks. This book is filled with good stories that preach the importance of curiosity and trying new things. Highly recommend.
“All the time you're saying to yourself, 'I could do that, but I won't,' — which is just another way of saying that you can't.”
“I always do that, get into something and see how far I can go.”
“The first principle is that you must not fool yourself—and you are the easiest person to fool. So you have to be very careful about that. “
Have a great week :)
