2024 Books Read In Order

  1. How to Win Friends and Influence People - Dale Carnegie 10/10

This book presents ideas that should be common sense to the general population, but somehow it’s not. It’s a quick read and an essential one to understand and apply. I will be rereading this book in 2025.

  1. Rich Dad, Poor Dad - Robert Kiyosaki 8/10

A good intro to personal finance and the mindset required to build personal wealth. This is a springboard into more advanced books about money.

  1. White Noise - Don Delillo 6/10

It's a throwaway fiction book I read over the holidays last year. Do not recommend.

  1. Deep Work - Cal Newport 8/10

Many people love this book. I thought it was good but not amazing. I do need improvement on my deep work, so maybe I just did not apply myself to this book. It is worth another read to remember the main ideas.

  1. The Psychology of Money - Morgan Housel 10/10

Amazing book about the biases and common misconceptions we all have about money. I will be rereading it in 2025.

  1. How to Live on 24 Hours a Day - Arnold Bennett 9/10

A quick read about how much time we have in a day and the best ways to spend your precious time. Should have been 10/10. I will be rereading this book in 2025.

  1. The Simple Path to Wealth - J.L. Collins 9/10

I gave this a 9/10 at the time but really it could have been a 10/10. Anybody that self-directs their investments should read this book. It will probably change your entire approach to investing and bring you peace of mind through simplicity and understanding.

  1. The Millionaire Master Plan - Roger James Hamilton 7.5/10

I don’t really remember this book in its entirety, although I do remember that the different levels of wealth were interesting and seemingly accurate. Look up the wealth lighthouse and read about the 9 levels for more insight. I was humbled to see that I am on level 3/9. I have a long way to go.

  1. A Course in Meditation - Osho 9/10

Some of these meditations were really insightful. This book has 30 meditations to complete—one a day for a month. I am trying to make meditation a daily habit but the discipline to just sit comes and goes.

  1. The Lords of Easy Money - Christopher Leonard 9/10

Another book that I could have given a 10/10. If you don’t know anything about the US Federal Reserve and the team that decides interest rates, it will be eye opening. Everybody should read this book.

  1. The Greatest Minds and Ideas of All Time - Will Durant 9/10

Will and Ariel Durant are historians and very concise writers. This book was educational and ~100 pages. It gave me lots of historical perspective and ideas for future readings.

  1. The Wealthy Barber Returns - David Chilton 6.5/10

A beginner book on personal finance. The author is funny but the content is fluffy and there are better picks for books in this category.

  1. A Man’s Search for Meaning - Viktor Frankl 10/10

A must-read for everybody. If you feel like your life is hard, Viktor’s stories of the holocaust will humble you. Also, his philosophy will help you find direction, or at least what aspects of your life you should focus on. I will be rereading this book in 2025.

  1. Food Rules - Michael Pollan 8/10

A quick read but a good one. Again, its common sense, but its funny just how far from basic food needs we have gone. This book just preaches simplicity and whole foods.

  1. As a Man Thinketh - James Allen 10/10

I read this on the plane. It is a short book as well. I do not remember much about it, but I gave it a 10/10 at the time and I will be rereading this book in 2025. Stay tuned for more about this book.

  1. Beyond Brawn - Stuart McRobert 9/10

A good read for anyone into working out and trying to gain muscle. Preaches simplicity and hard work.

  1. Rich Dad, Poor Dad’s Cash Flow Quadrant - Robert Kiyosaki 8/10

The second book in the Rich Dad, Poor Dad series. On par with the first one. I find Kiyosaki’s books enjoyable to read, but again there are better books in the personal finance category.

  1. Zero to One - Peter Thiel 9/10

Peter Thiel is an incredibly successful entrepreneur and the ideas laid out in this book are ideals that should be taken to heart by all aspiring entrepreneurs. I gave it a 9/10 but I remember using a lot of material from the book as inspiration for this blog.

  1. Creative Mind and Success- Ernest Holmes 10/10

A short book but a good one. Don’t ask me what its about, just read it. I will be rereading this book in 2025.

  1. The Prophet - Khalil Gibran 10/10

Another short book that deserves more attention. It is poetic but approachable and I will be rereading this book in 2025.

  1. Power vs. Force - David R. Hawkins 6/10

Another book that many people love that I barely finished. I thought all the stuff about ‘going strong and weak’ was a waste of paper, but the ladder of emotional states and frequencies is going to end up on my wall.

  1. The Cellist of Sarajevo - Steven Galloway 7/10

An enjoyable fiction book about snipers and war. I would not read it again but if you are into war stories it could be for you.

  1. Managing Oneself - Peter Drucker 10/10

A short book that I marked as a ‘must read again’. Maybe I will have more to say about this book next year after rereading it.

  1. Lying - Sam Harris 9/10

Eye opening perspective on why you should never lie. I still lie here and there but I am working on never telling lies. Worth a read.

  1. Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf - Ben Hogan 9/10

A must read if you are into golf.

  1. The 48 Laws of Power - Robert Greene 10/10

My book of the year. Packed with interesting stories and brilliant laws. This book should be near the top of everybody’s list. This book made me more interesting and I will be rereading this book in 2025.

  1. The Almanack of Naval Ravikant - Eric Jorgenson 9/10

If you don’t know who Naval Ravikant, you are missing out. Read this book immediately. Modern day philosopher and the tech bro’s Ghandi.

  1. The War of Art - Steven Pressfield 9/10

A book that should be on your desk just for when you need some inspiration. I like to flip this book open and read short passages.

  1. The way of the superior man - David Deida 10/10

I find myself thinking about this book often. I read it pretty late in the year but I already want to go back and read it again. This book makes me act differently and has made me a better man. I will be rereading this book in 2025.

  1. The Fountainhead - Ayn Rand 10/10

A very long book, but a memorable one. I have recommended this book to certain people, but its definitely not for everybody.

  1. The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy- Douglas Adams 9/10

Another fan favorite. It was good but not life changing. Very quotable. I am number 42 in hockey.

  1. Surely You’re Joking, Mr. Feynman - Richard P. Feynman 9/10

Richard Feynman is a one of a kind character and a good intellectual role model. If you like science but think scientists are boring, read this book to change your mind.

  1. The 4-Hour Body - Tim Ferriss - 8/10

Some good takeaways and an enjoyable read. I recommend it if you are into health and fitness hacks.

  1. Anything You Want - Derek Sivers 9/10

Concise and worth a read. Derek is a unique writer and this book is another fan favorite that I thought was just good.

  1. The Kitchen Readings: Untold Stories of Hunter S. Thompson - Michael Cleverly and Bob Braudis 9/10

Hunter S. Thompson is a wild man and inspires me to take more risks. It is also a good reminder that sometimes you need to take the good with the bad.

  1. The Rum Diary - Hunter S. Thompson 7/10

I did not enjoy this book that much, but I do love a booze filled adventure. Do not regret the read but will not be revisiting.

Thanks for reading my yearly book recap! If you have any questions about these books please email me :)
