Small Changes I’m Thinking About
Winning the mornings. I increasingly realize how important the first hour of the day is. Opening my phone, or any ‘rot my brain’ activities first thing in the morning, just makes my brain crave the dopamine and I end up falling for more distractions than usual. The difference between reading and scrolling for 5 minutes is huge.
Hell yes or no. If someone asks me to do something, and my response is not ‘hell yes’, it should be ‘no’. We are all too busy. I want more free time to let creativity and genius grow uninterrupted.
What I’m Reading
Last week I read Anything You Want by Derek Sivers. Derek is a unique guy who has great business and lifestyle takes. This book is short, about 100 pages, but very dense.
“If you think your life's purpose needs to hit you like a lightning bolt, you'll overlook the little day-to-day things that fascinate you.”
“If you set up your business like you don’t need the money, people are happier to pay you. When someone’s doing something for the money, people can sense it, like they sense a desperate lover. It’s a turnoff. When someone’s doing something for love, being generous instead of stingy, trusting instead of fearful, it triggers this law: We want to give to those who give.”
“Any business that’s in business to sell you a cure is motivated not to focus on prevention.”
This week I will be reading lightly, flipping through books, and reading the most interesting parts from the table of contents or the index. If the book is good enough to grab me from the parts I read, I will read it.
Have a great week :)
