Let the universal laws guide you (029)

1st Law Monday - January 29 2024

Scientific laws are universal, whether they are derived from classical or quantum physics, chemistry, thermodynamics, or any other scientific field.

Their universal nature is useful to us for it means that if we apply them, we can make our lives easier by living in harmony with the natural laws of the universe.

We only have to give them some thought to understand how they are applicable.

For instance, the second law of thermodynamics states that heat always flows from hotter bodies to colder ones.

How can you apply this concept in your day to day life?

I believe this urges us to spend time around people who are 'ahead' of us in life.

People who are already on the path to achieving, or have already achieved, the things that we desire in our own lives.

By merely being in their proximity, we will absorb some of their 'heat'.

Their knowledge, experience and wisdom will brush off on us.

This is similar to the classic maxim that you are the sum of the 5 people that you spend the most time with.

Think about who those people are.

Do they inspire you?

Are they influencing you to be a better person?

Are they on the path to achieving their goals?

Are they helping you on your journey to achieving yours?

In my opinion, it's better to be the worst player on a great team, than the best player on an average team.

In fact, if you are ever the best player on your team, or the smartest person at your company, I believe you should level up and find a higher achieving team where you can be around people more skilled than yourself.

This is the fastest way to learn and grow.

Be receptive to learning from those around you.

Even people 'below' you in whatever hierarchy you subscribe to.

You can learn something from everyone.

Have a great week :)
