God loves fools

After failing 99 times, it takes a certain type of person to persevere for the 100th time. 99 rejections, 99 chances to quit, but if you can find it in yourself to just take that 100th step, you may succeed. This is why I say God loves fools—good favour falls upon those who believe in themselves, believe in their mission, and have the courage to keep trying even after so many failures.

So many things we now take for granted came from repeated failure. For example-Thomas Edison went through thousands of iterations before stumbling upon a working lightbulb. Imagine he quit after the 4289th time. We may still be in the dark.

The only time failure is guaranteed is if you quit. Never quit.

Originality

The goal of this newsletter is to come up with original thoughts and ideas. If all I ever think/write/say can be stitched together by snippets of things I have read/heard/seen, then nothing I do is actually original. You may as well go back to the source to get the info there.

I try to write something that is wholly original, something that never would have been conceived of if it weren’t for me. I hope that in my past 144 posts there is one paragraph or sentence that is truly mine and truly me.

The above two points, apply to many areas of life, but I want to highlight some personal connections I have made. For those who don’t know me, I work in sales now. Rejection and failure is a daily occurrence. I get ghosted, rejected, and told to stop emailing/calling daily. Failure is much more common than success. But I know that God rewards fools and that he wants me to win. All I can do is keep pushing, keep working hard and trying my best. The results will come.

On the topic of originality and sales: this, I think, is the beauty of sales. The sales team brings in new business. Everything we produce is net positive and would not have happened without us. The results are directly correlated to your actions. In this way its very rewarding, but for the same reason can be very stressful. If you fail, you have no one ot blame but yourself.

Quick thought about media

Being addicted to screens is adjacent to being addicted to drugs. They all take us out of reality and into another world where real world concerns disapear and our eyes glaze over. Don’t take this like Im almighty and am great at avoiding media, I struggle with binging reels and scrolling as much as the next person. I do recognize how distracting and draining it is though and have been trying to mitigate.

Quote to go

“Television is by nature the dominator drug par excellence. Control of content, uniformity of content, repeatability of content make it inevitably a tool of coersion, brainwashing, and manipulation.”

Terence McKenna, Food of the Gods

Sorry for the sporadic posts, its not even that I have been too busy. I think that art is hard and there are much easier and lower friction things to do than sitting down to write. Just know that I will never quit. There will always be another newsletter.

I love this newsletter and all of my readers. Thank you all!
