Focus for the week

This newsletter's title is a mantra I heard in a podcast recently. It resonated with me and I have tried incorporating it into some of my meditations. The focus for this week, and my life, is searching for balance and clarity, kicking bad content addictions, and trying to have original thoughts.

My phone is now in a state where it is not fun to be using it unless I am texting someone or checking something important. I have no social media apps and have even banned many of them on safari so I cannot resort to that. I am trying to remove as many things from my life as I can to free up time to read, reflect, recharge and think.

What I’m Reading

Last week I finished The 4 Hour Body by Tim Ferriss. My main takeaway is just how much I envy the dedication the author has to transparency and to self-experimentation. He puts on 30 pounds in a month to test a muscle-gaining theory, travels the world to workout with different trainers and test different training philosophies, and attempts to present a biased, but honest view of various health hacks.

This week I am reading Principles by Ray Dalio, one of the most successful and influential investors and businessmen ever. He is also an accomplished author, and his books, while long, should not be 20 pages. He is a man with a lot to say, and even when he does so concisely, his books are often a dense 400 pages.

Have a great week :)
